Hi, I’m Dr. Ricardo Rodriguez from CosmeticSurg in Baltimore. Today, I’m going to tell you why thin cannulas are better than thick cannulas.
Number one, smoother results.
Number two, less complications, such as pain, seromas, etc.
Number three, no need for massages, or no need for drains, or any of that bother after liposuction with a larger cannula.
And I’m going to tell you why this is so.
When you operate with a big thin cannula, with bigger holes, what happens is when you put it underneath your skin, it creates bigger cavities. Those holes, they can snag little arteries, little veins, little nerves. So you’re going to have a lot more pain.
Also, they create bigger holes into which fluids from your body empty out, and those holes can then form seromas, or fluid collections. That’s why you have to have all that lymphatic massage to squeeze out all that fluid. And if you’re not lucky, some of that fluid stays behind and then you have to go in with a needle and to draw it out.
And what some surgeons do to prevent that, is they’ll have to put in drains.
So when you do it with a smooth cannula, because you’re not hitting any nerves, because you’re not creating any cavities, because any and all of that, you don’t have any need for massages, you’re not going to need to put in a drain, you’re not going to need to aspirate it, and in the end, you’re going to have a better result and I’m going to be able to even take out more fat because I’m going near the skin.
